Ozzy Talks Iron Maiden Conflct

The Ozzman talks about 2005 argument with Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson

Ozzy Osbourne’s recent bout of reflection continues apace, and this time he’s spoken about the weird spat between himself and Iron Maiden in 2005 which culminated in Sharon Osbourne hurling eggs at Maiden while they were onstage at an Ozzfest festival.

The weird dispute occurred in California at the last of Maiden’s scheduled appearances on Ozzy’s touring festival. According to reports at the time the audience pelted Maiden with eggs, bottle caps and ice throughout their 60 minute set and at one point the band had their PA turned off, while frontman Bruce Dickinson criticised Ozzy and his family for appearing in a reality TV show.

But this week Ozzy revealed a little more about the incident. "Unbeknown to me, every night he was going on stage slagging me off. And that wasn't fair. If he didn't like the fkin' tour, he should have said 'I'm jumping the fkin' tour', but to go on stage and fkin' slag me off for no reason... I'd never said a fkin' bad thing to him. The bass player Steve Harris came round at the last gig and said "I’m sorry about Bruce” and I’m like, "What the fk are you talking about?” Nobody had told me, you know. I said, "You know what? I don’t understand what the fk you’re talking about here.

"Sharon got pssed off... it was nothing to do with me. I suppose Sharon got pssed off. I'll back my wife up to the hilt, but I didn't know what was going down. "

He added: "I don't like all that st going down. If you don't like me, just say, 'I don't like you, I'm doing this festival but I think you're a ct'. That's all right. But to go on my stage and start slagging me off - that ain't fair. They weren't fking slagging me off when they got paid every fking night."

"To this day I don't understand what the fkin' beef was. I just don't get it. To go on the Ozzfest and slag off, that's crazy. I really think he needs a fkin' psychiatrist if he does that, he's fking nuts. It's an irresponsible fkin' thing to do. Sharon must have got pissed off with this c**t, you know."
