Ozzy Osbourne reveals he fell asleep on his driving test
Black Sabbath’s Ozzy Osbourne says he was once so “out of it” on a driving test that he fell asleep.
The Prince of Darkness finally passed his driving test at the nineteenth attempt back in 2009 at the tender age of 60.
Speaking in the latest edition of Q Magazine, Ozzy put his dismal test performances down to his notoriously debauched lifestyle: “I took so many f***ing driving tests because I was so out of it."
“On one occasion I nodded off during the test. When I woke up there was a note on the seat saying ‘You have failed.’”
Despite now legally being able to drive, Ozzy added that he hasn’t driven for four years: “I’ve got an American driving licence so I bought a Ferrari, then I went out on the p*ss and Sharon went: ‘Oh no, you’re not having this!’
“It’s not a good idea is it? Ozzy Osbourne and a Ferrari!”
Elsewhere in the interview, Ozzy said that he won’t retire from music until he has shuffled off this mortal coil.
“I did retire (in the 1990s) but the discovery I made is you’ve got to have something to do. If you ain’t got no routine you die,” Ozzy explained.
“I’m not retiring. It’s a gift what I do, so why not do it if it keeps me going on this planet?”
Black Sabbath kicked off their last ever UK tour in Manchester last night and continue in Glasgow tomorrow (24th January). Select tickets are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
