Ozzy Osbourne recovering in hospital after emergency hand surgery
Ozzy Osbourne is recuperating in hospital after undergoing emergency surgery for a hand infection.
The former Black Sabbath frontman had an operation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Saturday morning (6th October) and was forced to postpone his planned No More Tours 2 show at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California that evening.
Ozzy will now spend several days in hospital under doctor’s care while they monitor the infection.
The singer shared two images on Instagram – one of his bandaged hand after the operation and a second of himself devouring ice cream in his hospital bed. He captioned the photo: “Feeling better after surgery. Ice cream helps.”
Ozzy’s daughter Kelly has also given an update on Instagram, writing: "Thank you all so much for your well wishes dad is doing so much better. Nothing that some rest, antibiotics and of course his favourite ice cream can't cure."
If doctors give him the green light, Ozzy will resume his No More Tours 2 trek at Mattress Firm Amphitheatre in Chula Vista on Tuesday night (9th October) before playing the Hollywood Bowl on Thursday and MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday.
His Shoreline Amphitheatre show has been rearranged for Tuesday 16th October.
Ozzy’s swansong No More Tours 2 trek hits the UK in early 2019 for six dates with special guests Judas Priest. Tickets to all dates are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
At the time of announcing the tour, Ozzy said: "People keep asking me when I'm retiring. This will be my final world tour, but I can't say I won’t do some shows here and there.
"I've been extremely blessed to have had two successful music careers. I'm looking at this final tour as being a huge celebration for my fans and anyone who has enjoyed my music over the past five decades."
