Ozzy Osbourne: ‘I’ll only retire when they put me in a pine box’
Ozzy Osbourne has vowed never to retire from performing music.
Last week, the heavy metal legend was confirmed as the Sunday night headliner at next summer’s Download Festival, which is part of a ‘final world tour’ that will continue into 2020 when Ozzy will be a sprightly 72-years-old.
"People keep asking me when I’m retiring," Ozzy said at the time. "This will be my final world tour, but I can’t say I won’t do some shows here and there."
Echoing this sentiment in an interview with US Weekly, Ozzy was asked once again whether he will call it a day when the tour is up.
He responded: "Not until they put me in a pine box. I've just announced my final world tour, but I don't think I'll ever retire completely. I'll still do shows here and there, just no full tours.”
Ozzy’s band for his farewell world tour consists of guitarist Zakk Wylde, bassist Rob ‘Blasko’ Nicholson, drummer Tommy Clufetos and keyboardist Adam Wakeman.
Black Sabbath, of course, said goodbye to fans with their sprawling The End tour, which culminated back in February with two shows in their native Birmingham.
