Ozzy Osbourne gives health update and says he's been treated for blood clots
He recently cancelled his slot at Power Trip festival
Ozzy Osbourne has given a health update in the wake of the recent cancellation of his comeback at Power Trip festival.
The Prince of Darkness pulled out of Power Trip festival earlier this month saying “As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October.”
The 74-year-old metal legend added: “Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.
Judas Priest were later confirmed as his replacement at the Californian event taking place in October with AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Tool and Guns N’ Roses also on the bill.
Ozzy has suffered a series of health setbacks in recent years including a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis, emphysema, a serious fall in his bedroom, alleged botched surgery, flu and pneumonia, and a staph infection in his hand.
Asked about his health by co-host Billy Morrison on SiriusXM's Ozzy Speaks, Ozzy confirmed he recently had a blood clot filter removed from one of his arteries.
“I'm battling through,” Ozzy said. “Like, for instance last Monday, I went to have a filter removed. When I had the blood clots in my legs, they put a filter in your artery to stop the blood clots going to your heart and your brain. It sounds worse than it is.
“So, on Monday I went to have it removed. The blood clots have jammed you all up. It's just disappointment after disappointment. Just get this thing f---ing done so I can go get on with my life.
“They put a thing down there in my neck, straight down to my groin.”
Ozzy’s UK & Ireland tour with Judas Priest was originally scheduled for early 2019 and was postponed four times due to his health before being cancelled altogether.
His former Black Sabbath band mate Geezer Butler announced his retirement in June, saying: “I don’t want to do anything anymore.”
