Ones To Watch: The Pearl Harts
The 25th band to step into the spotlight in our weekly Ones To Watch feature are London-based two-piece The Pearl Harts.
The Pearl Harts are Kirsty Lowery (lead vocals, guitar), Sara Leigh Shaw (drums, vocals).
Having met on the gigging circuit while playing with different bands, kindred spirits Kirsty and Sara escaped to form The Pearl Harts and began crafting groove-laden blues rock songs that nod towards an array of seminal bands, but, crucially, are injected with their own indelible imprint to give them a visceral, modern twist.
A perfect showcase of their raw and prodigious talents, shortly after their formation the duo uploaded a live performance of their deliciously uncompromising single ‘Black Blood’ to YouTube and to date it has amassed an impressive quarter-of-a-million views.
Over the ensuing years there have been many zeniths for Kirsty and Sara, including performing on TFI Friday, picking up national airplay on Kerrang! Radio, and supporting sizeable bands like Stereophonics, Skunk Anansie and Garbage (at the personal request of Shirley Manson) on the road.
With their career simmering nicely, 2018 has seen The Pearl Harts kick their career to the next level by unleashing their debut album ‘Glitter and Spit’ to the world in February. Boasting the studio version of ‘Black Blood’ that retains the infectious energy of its live incarnation, the chugging and spiky ‘LARA’, the fast and abrasive ‘Hit The Bottle’ and the riff-heavy behemoth that is current single ‘The Rush’, it’s an exhilarating and vital listen and packed with rock n’ roll swagger.
