Ones To Watch: Mason Hill

With an average age of just 23, fresh-faced Glaswegian quintet Mason Hill have a prodigious talent that belies their fledgling years. As showcased on the single ‘Now You See Me’, they’re a tightknit musical unit who meld scorching riffs with pummelling beats and singer Scott Taylor’s astonishing pipes. Devoid of gimmicks, the band are purveyors of plucky and pure rock music with a backbone.

Mason Hill formed from the ashes of Scott and James’ high school band in 2013 and following a series of line-up changes, finally settled on their current incarnation in February 2016. Relentless performers, in the live sphere over the past few years they’ve played the Ramblin' Man Fair 'Rising stage', opened the Hard Rock Hell 2016 main stage, supported the likes of Toseland, Airbourne, Graham Bonnet, Inglorious and Stone Broken and appeared at Download Festival on the Boardie Takeover Stage. Loyally followed in their native Glasgow, Mason Hill sold out their inaugural headline shows at the Cathouse and G2 venues, and eventually upgraded the latter to The Garage to cope with demand.

On record, they unleashed a self-titled EP when they were still a four-piece back in December 2015 and they’ve recently penned a record deal with influential imprint Frontiers Music srl (Whitesnake, Journey, Toto, Stone Broken) for future releases, which truly can’t come soon enough.

Ensuring they end 2017 on a high, after playing Stage 2 at Planet Rockstock and supporting fellow Glasgow boys Gun at the 2,100 capacity Barrowland Ballroom, Mason Hill will play a string of headline shows across the country in the run-up to Christmas on the Now You See Me Tour.
