Ones To Watch: Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics

The next band to step into the limelight in our weekly Ones To Watch showcase of the hottest acts around are the incredible Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics.

Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics are Paul White (drums), Mart Trail (bass), Tom McCarthy (guitar), Laurie Buchanan (guitar) and Aaron Buchanan (vocals).

Having toured the globe for four years with the blockbuster names like Alice Cooper and Aerosmith, triumphed at festivals including Download and Sonisphere, and stormed in at number nine on the rock charts with acclaimed debut album ‘Filthy Empire’, in October 2015 Aaron Buchanan made the bold move to walk away from the successful band he fronted – Heaven’s Basement – to set up an exciting new musical venture.

Wasting absolutely no time, Aaron swiftly hit a studio just out of London with producer James Curtis-Thomas, his guitarist sister Laurie and fellow guitarist Ryan Woods to lay down material with a ‘deep, mature, and colourful intent’ with his soon-to-be-crowned outfit Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics . Just a few months later and a stint for Aaron in Australia where many of the vocals were tracked in a shed just outside Brisbane, debut long-player ‘The Man With Stars On His Knees’ was born.

A life-affirming and powerful record, ‘The Man With Stars On His Knees’ unleashed to the world in May 2017 and it was rightfully lauded for its anthemic choruses, towering tunes and epic riffs. The album spawned the Planet Rock favourites 'All The Things You’ve Said And Done' & ‘Dancin' Down Below', both of which were played on heavy rotation on our airwaves. Even more impressive than the widespread critical plaudits, the band have even been praised by Judas Priest legend Rob Halford.

Winning over fans as a touring unit under the Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics banner since mid-2016, the band are a truly spectacular live force – so much so that we’ve booked them to appear at Planet Rock presents Winter’s End this Friday ahead of special guests Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons and headliners Stone Broken. We implore you to check them out if you get the chance!
