Nita Strauss reveals star-studded track-listing for second album 'The Call of the Void'
Nine of the 14 tracks feature special guests

Guitar shredder Nita Strauss has revealed the full star-studded track-listing for her second studio album ‘The Call of the Void’.
Released on Friday 7th July 2023 via Sumarian Records, ‘The Call of the Void’ follows Strauss’ critically acclaimed instrumental album ‘Controlled Chaos.’
Unlike its predecessor, ‘The Call of the Void’ features a raft of guest vocalists and musicians on nine of the 14 tracks.
Guest performers include Nita’s band mate Alice Cooper, Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale, Disturbed’s David Draiman, In Flames' Anders Fridén, former Megadeth axeman Marty Friedman, and Arch Enemy’s Alissa White-Gluz.
Nita Strauss says: "Some pieces of music come into the world gracefully and easily. This album is not one of them! ‘The Call Of The Void’ was born kicking and screaming, a labour of love for sure, but also of blood, sweat, and plenty of tears. I couldn't be more proud of the end result. Making this album helped me learn and grow so much as a musician and songwriter and I’m excited to finally unleash it on the world."
"I wanted the follow up to Controlled Chaos to be exciting, new, and fresh, to take listeners to a new place and take myself somewhere new as an artist too. We have some amazing collaborations on this album with incredible musicians, as well as the instrumental guitar music that first inspired me to play."
Commenting on the album's title, Strauss continues, "Have you ever been at the top of a high building and had the fleeting thought, '… I could jump right now?'
"This feeling is sometimes called 'The Call of the Void,' also known as 'high place phenomenon.' It's not a suicidal impulse, rather the exact opposite — a subconscious decision to live your life, to step back from the ledge, and take control. As researcher April Smith aptly put it: 'An urge to jump affirms the urge to live.'"
Commenting on new single ‘The Golden Trail’, featuring In Flames' Anders Fridén, Nita Strauss enthused: "When I was first learning how to play guitar, In Flames were my Beatles; my first favourite band.
"Anders' iconic vocal style is burned into my mind! To write a song like this and have him sing on it, as a kid who grew up with In Flames posters on my walls, is an absolute dream come true."

Guitar shredder Nita Strauss, perhaps best-known for being Alice Cooper's guitarist since 2014, is a descendant of 19th century Austrian composer Johann Strauss II. Explaining she's related to Johan on her father's side, Nita told Ultimate Guitar: "We have a lot of musicians, like, everyone on my dad's side of the family is all musicians, all the way back to the Viennese Strausses." Asked if she would consider performing Johan's music, Nita said: "You know, the waltz doesn't really sound good on the guitar. Like, I've sort of experimented a bit. I have to explore it more, because I would like to. And actually, we talked even about using 'The Blue Danube' as intro music for the tour or something, but it's so on the nose. It's sort of, like, so obvious, but I still want to explore it when I have a little more time."
