Nirvana At Number Six In Midweek Charts
Smells Like Teen Spirit almost certainly won\'t be Christmas number 1
The song had been the subject of a campaign similar to the one that got Rage Against The Machine to number 1 in 2009, but it seems that this particular attempt will miss out after it was revealed that it had been placed at number 6 in the midweek charts.
Organiser Jon Morter said "I think it's going be a lot tougher than the Rage Against The Machine campaign, which was bloody hard. There's a lot more at stake. The Military Wives single has got a very big amount of pre-orders. In complete honesty, I think that's the one to keep an eye out for, more than the actual X-Factor."
Ladbrokes reports that the Nirvana song is currently 7/1 to reach number 1, with the Military Wives single an almost dead cert at 1/2.
