Nikki Sixx slams Pearl Jam after Eddie Vedder says he 'hates' Mötley Crüe
Vedder criticised Mötley Crüe in a recent interview

Nikki Sixx has lambasted Pearl Jam in response to comments Eddie Vedder made about Mötley Crüe in a recent interview.
Promoting his upcoming new solo album ‘Earthling’, Eddie Vedder recently caught up with the New York Times for a wide-ranging chat about his career.
Reflecting upon the grunge explosion, Vedder said that as a young man in the 1980s he didn’t have much love for certain metal bands.
"You know, I used to work in San Diego loading gear at a club," Vedder said. "I’d end up being at shows that I wouldn’t have chosen to go to — bands that monopolised late-’80s MTV. The metal bands that — I’m trying to be nice — I despised. ‘Girls, Girls, Girls ‘and Mötley Crüe: (expletive) you. I hated it.
“I hated how it made the fellas look. I hated how it made the women look. It felt so vacuous.”
Admitting it wasn’t all bad in the 80s, Vedder added: "Guns N’ Roses came out and, thank God, at least had some teeth. But I’m circling back to say that one thing that I appreciated was that in Seattle and the alternative crowd, the girls could wear their combat boots and sweaters, and their hair looked like Cat Power’s and not Heather Locklear’s — nothing against her.
“They weren’t selling themselves short. They could have an opinion and be respected. I think that’s a change that lasted. It sounds so trite, but before then it was bustiers. The only person who wore a bustier in the ’90s that I could appreciate was Perry Farrell."
In response to Vedder’s comments, Nikki Sixx took to Twitter earlier today to stick the boot into Pearl Jam.
He wrote: “Made me laugh today reading how much the singer in Pearl Jam hated @MotleyCrue.
“Now considering that they’re one of the most boring bands in history it’s kind of a compliment isn’t it? #TheStadiumTour #RocknRoll”
When one of his followers said Pearl Jam’s music would make a baby fall to sleep, Sixx replied: “Or just sing to the baby with marbles In your mouth…Very zen.”
It’s not the first time Nikki Sixx has hit back at a band on Twitter. In October 2019 he labelled Steel Panther ‘backstabbers’ over comments frontman Michael Starr made about Vince Neil.
After tearing up their cessation of touring agreement in late 2019, Mötley Crüe embark on their twice delayed Stadium Tour this summer with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett.
Featuring guest spots from Stevie Wonder, Ringo Starr and Elton John amongst others, Eddie Vedder’s solo record ‘Earthling’ is released on Friday (11th February).
Pearl Jam play two headline shows at BST Hyde Park on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th July 2022. Tickets are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
