Nick Mason has revealed what it would take for David Gilmour and Roger Waters to bury the hatchet and for Pink Floyd to reunite.

Last year, Nick Mason and David Gilmour revived Pink Floyd to record the one-off single 'Hey Hey Rise Up’, which raised money for the humanitarian relief effort in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The fleeting incarnation of Pink Floyd also featured long-time Floyd bass player Guy Pratt and Nitin Sawhney on keyboards, however the band didn’t perform any live shows.

Roger Waters was critical of the reunion calling it “really, really sad” and saying it “encourages the continuation of the war.”

Shortly afterwards, David Gilmour’s wife Polly Samson slammed Roger Waters on Twitter calling him a 'megalomaniac' and 'antisemitic’ to his ‘rotten core'. Waters firmly denounced these claims.

In a new interview with Consequence, Nick Mason was asked what the chances are of Pink Floyd ending their feud and reuniting.

“I think it’s highly unlikely,” Mason replied. “But I would’ve said that before Live 8 — 10 years ago or 12 years ago, whatever it was.

“The one thing I could think would be possible would be if there was some… if by getting back together we could influence either saving the planet, world peace, or whatever.”

“Hopefully, we’d step up. But I don’t think otherwise. It would take a Nelson Mandela or someone like that to lead on it.”

Pink Floyd’s seminal opus ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ celebrated its 50th anniversary earlier this year, and it was recently voted The Greatest Rock Album of All Time by Planet Rock listeners.
