New U2 Record Early In 2011

Manager confirms new album due in a few months

U2 are to release a brand new album early next year.

The band’s manager Paul McGuinness told the Irish Times that the album will be here before their next US tour.

"I would expect a new U2 album sooner than anybody thinks," he told the Irish Times. "I would guess early 2011 before the next leg of the American tour, which starts in May."

Which album the band are intending to release is still unclear – Bono recently revealed that they have three albums in the works, a dance album, a rock album and an album of unreleased material from the No Line On The Horizon sessions which is called Songs Of Ascent. They also have material written for their Spiderman musical.

At least five new songs have been aired on the band’s current tour, so you would assume that at least some of these will feature on the new record.
