New Aerosmith Album Unlikely

Joe Perry says new album just isn\'t what people want

It seems that the three times-started, never completed new Aerosmith album will never be completed, according to Joe Perry.

In an interview with The Guardian Perry revealed that he wasn’t convinced that a new album was what people wanted.

"Until a couple of years ago, fans would ask for more records like the old records, but that's all fallen off,” he said. "New material is not that important any more. We've been at this for a long time. I think of some of the songs I've written or co-written and I think, why should I bother trying to top that? It's like Leonardo Da Vinci painting the Madonna again. Why should I paint the Madonna again?"

In the interview, Perry also revealed some of the truth behind the very near split earlier this year. He said that while the band were looking for a singer while Steven Tyler recovered from his health and addiction problems, they never came across anyone that

"It was just something for us to do, you know. I knew that the band wasn't going to break up. I've known the guy too long, we've been through way too much sh*t together for it to all end. He's my f**king blood brother. I knew he'd come back. I just didn't want to wait."

Aerosmith headline Download Festival this weekend and then play a show at the O2 Arena next week.
