Mötley Crüe tackle cancel culture on new song 'Cancelled'

Mötley Crüe have premiered a new song called ‘Cancelled’, which sees the quartet tackle the subject of cancel culture.
‘Cancelled’ is the title track of Mötley Crüe’s new three-track EP , which features the previously premiered original track ‘Dogs of War’ and cover of Beastie Boys’ (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!).'
The ‘Cancelled EP’ is Mötley Crüe’s first musical morsel with new guitarist John 5 following the acrimonious departure of Mick Mars in 2022.
Commenting on ‘Cancelled’, drummer Tommy Lee told Bill Maher's Club Random podcast: "There was this article that was like, 'How did Mötley Crüe ever not get cancelled?'
"And we were like, 'F---, we've gotta write a song about that because we didn't ever get it.' We snuck in under the whatever threshold, wherever that was, where we got away with f---ing murder."

Lyrics spouted by Vince Neil include: "Woke up in the morning, just got cancelled. Daily Mail is such a handful / Take a shot, throw a hand grenade / Monkeys on the internet got it made / Speak your mind you might get cancelled / Call me trash, burn down my castle."
Mötley Crüe recorded the ‘Cancelled EP’ in April 2023 with producer Bob Rock, and they said in a joint statement: "It was really great getting in the studio and working on some tracks together.
"What started out as a couple demo ideas turned into this EP produced by Bob Rock. We look forward to getting back into the studio again soon and writing more new music, as well."
Mötley Crüe play three shows in Los Angeles this week before performing an 11-night residency at Las Vegas Dolby Live at Park MGM in March and April 2025.
