Listen: Mötley Crüe release Beastie Boys cover and announce 'Cancelled' EP

Mötley Crüe have announce a new 3-track EP and released their cover of the Beastie Boys classic ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)’.

The ‘Cancelled’ EP will feature the as-yet unheard title-track, alongside the Beastie Boys cover and the previously released ‘Dogs Of War’.

All three tracks were recorded in April 2023 with longtime producer Bob Rock.

Mötley Crüe debuted their version of the Beastie Boys standard live when they played a ‘secret’ show for 450 lucky fans under the Dögs Of War pseudonym at the Underworld in London in June 2023.

They have since played it numerous times on tour.

In a statement accompanying the EP, the band said: “It was really great getting in the studio and working on some tracks together. What started out as a couple demo ideas turned into this EP produced by Bob Rock. We look forward to getting back into the studio again soon and writing more new music, as well."

Speaking on Bill Maher's ‘Club Random’ podcast last year, Crüe drummer Tommy Lee said they wrote a song called ‘Cancelled’ because they were surprised it had never happened to them.

He explained: There was this article that was like, 'How did Mötley Crüe ever not get cancelled?’

“And we were like, 'F---, we've gotta write a song about that because we didn't ever get it.' We snuck in under the whatever threshold, wherever that was, where we got away with f------ murder."

The ‘Cancelled’ EP is due for release on 4th October and is available to preorder now.
