Mick Jagger Talks 100 Club

Listen to an interview with the Stones frontman in Nicky\'s show tonight

Stones frontman Mick Jagger has spoken to Planet Rock about the impending closure of one of London’s most iconic live venues.

The 100 Club is looking set to be closed in the next couple of months after overheads soared, but a group of the world’s top musicians have spoken out about the closure and blues guitarist Stephen Dale Petit has organised a benefit show that will star Jagger’s fellow Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood and former bandmate Mick Taylor.

And we have spoken to Mick about the potential closure of the club for an interview to be broadcast on Planet Rock tonight.

"I think it’s important that you have places where bands can cut their teeth and that you have places of a certain intimacy and size that new bands can experiment in and people can do their first gigs,” Mick said about the impending closure. "There’s not that many places in London or any city that you can say that about. There’s a handful of places.”

He went on to talk about how the Stones actually never played at the 100 Club in the 60s but that it remained an ambition for the band until they finally got to play there in the 80s.

You can hear the full interview with Mick Jagger tonight in Nicky Horne’s show after 6pm.
