Metallica's World Record Confirmed
'Freeze Them All' earns them a place in the Guiness Book of World Records.
Metallica have been confirmed as new entrants in the 2015 Guinness World Records book.
The metal titans have been recognised as the first musical act to play a gig on all seven continents on planet earth.
With six continents already under their belts decades ago, Metallica ticked ther final frontier Antarctica off their list in December 2013.
In the show dubbed ‘Freeze Them All’, James, Kirk, Robert and Lars played a gig to 120 scientists and competition winners at Carlini Station shortly before Christmas – thankfully in the Antarctic summer!
James Hetfield said: “Seven continents in one year with Antarctica being THE gig of a lifetime...Yes, 120 scientists and competition winners. Not to mention the 300 very curious penguins!”
Unlike conventional gigs, amplifiers weren’t used at the gig due to the fragile environment so attendees listened to the music through headphones like a silent disco.
Guinness World Records 2015 is on sale across the globe later this month.
