Metallica’s James Hetfield falls through hole on stage in Amsterdam
James Hetfield took a painful tumble during Metallica’s show at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome last night (4th September).
The heavy metal monoliths were performing ‘Hardwired... to Self-Destruct’ single ‘Now That We’re Dead’ when James fell through a hole that had opened up while he was prowling the stage. The hole is where one of four rectangular percussion tables emerges from during Metallica’s performances.
Upon falling, Metallica’s crew members rushed over to help a clearly hurt James while Kirk Hammett, Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo looked on.
The consummate pro that he is, once he was helped back on his feet, James continued to play the track while grimacing with pain.

Metallica kicked off the European leg of their WorldWired Tour in Lars’ native Denmark on Saturday night (2nd September) and the tour hits the UK for five sold out shows next month.
