Originally scheduled to take place at the Masonic in the band’s native San Francisco on Saturday 28th March, the charity concert will now take place on Saturday 12th September.

Explaining why they’re rescheduling, Metallica wrote: “We may have been a little too ambitious with that date in terms of getting our s*** together and giving you an experience that matches or surpasses the first event held in November of 2018.”

The All Within My Hands Helping Hands Concert next month was due to be Metallica’s first gig since their two S&M² shows at the grand opening of the 18,000-capacity San Francisco Chase Center on 6th and 8th September 2019.

The two concerts were later immortalised in the concert film Metallica & the San Francisco Symphony: S&, which hit cinemas around the globe last October.

Three weeks after the S&M² shows, Metallica postponed their entire October 2019 Australian and New Zealand tour due to James Hetfield entering rehab.

James Hetfield made his first public appearance since rehab two weeks ago at the launch of an exhibition of his custom car collection in Los Angeles.

Metallica’s WorldWired Tour is due to reconvene at Estadio Nacional in Santiago, Chile on Wednesday 15th April.

Metallica’s full statement about the postponed show reads:

“Time to update the calendar as the second instalment of the All Within My Hands Helping Hands Concert has been rescheduled for September 12, 2020, still at the Masonic in San Francisco. A few of you may recall that in September as we were riding high on all the positive vibes that came out of the two S&M² shows, we were excited to announce that we had set aside March 28th to celebrate AWMH with all of you again. However, we may have been a little too ambitious with that date in terms of getting our shit together and giving you an experience that matches or surpasses the first event held in November of 2018.

“We apologize for the inconvenience that this change may cause and thank you for all the support and love that you’ve given All Within My Hands. We’ve had some incredible accomplishments in the last two years, including the launch of the innovative Metallica Scholars program (more on year two here) and are excited to share all the details—and a kick-ass show—with you later this year.”
