Metallica T-Shirt Day launched to celebrate '… And Justice For All' reissue
James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett have launched Metallica T-Shirt Day to celebrate the reissue of ‘… And Justice For All’ today.
The heavy metal icons are calling on all their fans to wear Metallica t-shirts today and post pictorial evidence on social media along with the hashtag #MetallicaTShirtDay.
The band wrote: “Join us in wearing your favourite Metallica shirt (don’t worry… it’s casual Friday, right?!), post a picture of yourself, and tag it with #MetallicaTShirtDay to see yourself on the homepage of Metallica.com. And one lucky winner will receive a “…Justice” Deluxe Box Set!”
To mark the occasion, Metallica have shared a series of Photoshopped images of landmarks and statues, together with Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, wearing ‘… And Justice For All’ t-shirts:
Available to buy via Metallica’s own imprint Blackened Recordings, ‘…And Justice For All’ has been remastered for the most advanced sound quality, overseen by Greg Fidelman.
The …And Justice For All reissue will be available physically as a Standard Double 180 gram LP, Standard CD, 3 CD Expanded Edition, Cassette, Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set and digitally as a Standard album (available to stream and download), an Expanded Edition (available for download only), and a Digital Deluxe Box Set (available for streaming and download).
The Expanded Edition will include previously unreleased demos, rough mixes, previously unreleased live tracks, and an expanded booklet of never-before-seen Ross Halfin photos.
Costing £155.99, the one-pressing-only Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set will include the remastered double 180g LP, a “One” picture disc, 3 LPs featuring their iconic performance from Seattle in 1989 remixed by Greg Fidelman, 11 CDs, 4 DVDs, a set of four patches, a Pushead print, a tour laminate, lyric sheets, a download card for all material in the set, and a deluxe 120-page book with never-before-seen photos and never-before-told stories from the people who were there.
Originally released on Friday 7th September 1988 on Elektra Records, ‘… And Justice For All’ was met with critical acclaim upon release and has gone on to achieve Platinum status in the UK and shift over 8million units Stateside.
It was the first Metallica album to feature bassist Jason Newstead, following the death of Cliff Burton two years earlier, and it spawned anthems including ‘One’, ‘Eye of the Beholder’ and ‘Harvester of Sorrow’.
Having triumphed on their autumn 2017 arena tour, Metallica will return to the UK next summer for stadium shows in Manchester and London with special guests Ghost.
