Metallica could be about to sign up for residency at Las Vegas Sphere

Metallica could be about to make a deal to undertake a residency at futuristic Las Vegas venue Sphere, according to a report in local publication Vital Vegas.

The publication said that a residency ‘looks like a lock’ after unnamed sources said that the band were ‘ready to ink a deal’.

It added that Metallica ‘could play Sphere in the fall of 2026, but specifics haven’t been confirmed or announced yet’.

That timeline could work out as Metallica’s ongoing ‘M72 World Tour’ is currently set to conclude with a run of dates in the UK and Ireland in the summer of 2026.

Guitarist Kirk Hammett has also previously said the band would love to play at The Sphere.

When asked by the Hollywood Reporter in April if the band would consider performing at eth venue, he replied: “Oh, heck, yeah! That’s a great example of how venues are changing. That’s using modern technology to the fullest, to really up the levels of production and entertainment, connected to AI and making it a crazy experience.”

Sphere opened on 29 September 2023, with U2 beginning a 40-show residency called ‘U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere’.

Phish, The Eagles and the Backstreet Boys have also since undertaken residencies at the high-tech venue.
