Metallica Film Their 3D Movie

The band recorded a show in Vancouver for their forthcoming extravaganza

The band recorded three shows in Vancouver last week, with the third of the three a $5 ticket which was donated to the Vancouver Food Bank.

The final show was also where the band filmed the 3D elements of their concert, and as a result it was a decidedly stop-start affair as they were forced to move stage equipment and reset scenes for the film.

Rolling Stone reports that the movie will contain an amazing array of stage effects and stunts (including a lot of pyro and an enormous stage set).

The as yet untitled film is directed by Nimród Antal (who directed 2010's Predators and 2007 horror film Vacancy) and it's looking likely to be released in cinemas in the summer of 2013.
