Metal Singer's Czech Jail Plight Goes On

The story of Randy Blythe's arrest and detention in Prague is an extraordinary one. If you weren't aware of the case then here's a brief snapshot of what's happened so far:

• 24 May 2010 - an incident onstage at a club show in Prague involving Randy Blythe and 19 year old fan Daniel Nosek results in Nosek being thrown off the stage and hitting his head. He later fell into a coma and died as a result of the head injury.
• Fast forward to 27 June 2012. Lamb Of God arrive in Prague as part of a European tour, and upon arrival Randy Blythe is arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. He claims that the first time that he had heard about Nosek's death was upon his arrival back in the Czech Republic, more than two years after the original incident.
• 30 June - a Prague District Court rules that Blythe be remanded in custody, but sets bail at around $200,000.
• 3 July - Bail is posted by Blythe but the court must rule on conditions of release. At the same time the prosecutor has three days to accept the bail or challenge it by failing a complaint (during which Blythe remains in jail), but due to a public holiday the prosecutor doesn't file the complaint until 9 July.
• 17 July - Prague Municpal Court's three judges reject the complaint but rule that the bail be doubled to around $400,000. Another complaint from the prosecutor is filed and Blythe remains in jail.

And that brings us up to date.

Blythe is due to hear tomorrow whether he will be set free on bail when a judge rules on this latest complaint by the prosecutor. If the judge decides that the complaint has merit then Blythe will finally be charged and he will remain in jail until the trial, which probably won't happen for around 12 months.

The Gauntlet reports: "The judge has five days to rule, and another five days for it to be written or published to the court. The judge's ruling at this point will be final and unless charges are formally filed, Randy will be free to leave the Czech Republic without condition on bail.”

It's an extraordinary case which has attracted a lot of attention worldwide, and it all relates to this incident.
