The annual Metal Merch Day encourages rock music aficionados to wear their favourite merchandise in support of registered charity Metal For Good.

Following the wildly successful first Metal Merch Day in 2023, which raised an astonishing £10,000 for charity and boasted support from Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford and Thunder singer / Planet Rock presenter Danny Bowes to name but a few, the event is back this year on Friday 18th October 2024.

Planet Rock is once again supporting Metal Merch Day in 2024 and our presenters will be donning their favourite merch on the day and encouraging you to share your pics using the hashtag #MetalMerchDay24

You can check out photos of Planet Rock presenters in their Metal Merch at the bottom of the page.

How can I get involved in Metal Merch Day?

If you’re a metalhead, rocker, or a fan of any music genre, you can wear your favourite merch on 18th October 2024 in support of Metal For Good.

If you decide to take part, you can make a small donation (suggested £5) at the Metal Merch Day JustGiving page right here.

You could also buy the official Metal Merch Day T-shirt HERE, which costs a very reasonable £25 and features a very metal image of Medusa as a rocker. There are also four other striking designs on the official website.

There are other ways to get involved too – you could organise your own music-themed fundraising event at work or in the community, or sell your old music merch and donate the proceeds to Metal For Good.

What is Metal For Good?

Metal For Good is a registered charity that uses the positive values of rock, metal and other alternative subcultures to make a positive difference in communities.

The charity says: 'We think that the rock and metal community is truly unique - we’re brought together through a shared love of great music and a sense of belonging. Through this shared identity, lives are often improved; we feel we are part of something bigger, that we are accepted, and that someone has ultimately ‘got our back’.

'We also think music is transformational. Whether playing, listening or watching live - it can be an escape when you are struggling, give you a voice when you feel unheard, bring communities together, and give you the confidence and skills to thrive.

'Through our fundraising, we provide grants to community organisations that use music to end inequalities, improve mental and physical wellbeing, and provide life-changing opportunities for young people such as The Music Works, Heavy Metal Therapy and Gig Buddies.'
