Meat Loaf’s ‘Bat Out of Hell’ gets re-release to celebrate its 40th anniversary
To celebrate four decades since its release, Meat Loaf’s record-obliterating rock opera ‘Bat Out of Hell’ is being re-released next month.
The classic record will be available to buy on CD, vinyl and digital formats via Sony Music on Friday 9th June, with the physical editions also boasting a Collector’s Edition cover.
Alongside the seven Jim Steinman penned tracks, the re-release includes three bonus songs including a sprawling 11-minute live version of ‘Bat Out of Hell’ and the Cher duet ‘Dead Ringer For Love’.
Released in October 1977, ‘Bat Out of Hell’ is the fourth best-selling album of all time and has shifted over 43million units across the globe including 3.2million in the UK.
Next month’s re-release coincides with Bat Out of Hell The Musical opening at London Coliseum on Monday 5th June. Tickets are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
The musical follows the exploits of the eternally young Strat and his wild gang, The Lost, as they roam the streets of Obsidian, a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, ruled by the wicked and tyrannical Falco.
Directed by Jay Schieb, it features 17 of Meat Loaf's greatest hits including I'd Do Anything For Love, Paradise By The Dashboard Light, You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth, Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad, Bat Out Of Hell and three new Jim Steinman originals written for the show.
