Meat Loaf hospitalised after falling off stage
Meat Loaf was hospitalised over the weekend when he fell off stage while speaking at a horror event in Dallas, Texas.
The 71-year-old singer – real name Michael Lee Aday – was addressing the audience at the Texas Frightmare Weekend on Saturday (4th May) when he lost his balance and fell from the back of the stage.
Later that evening, Texas Frightmare Weekend organisers posted a statement confirming Meat Loaf was being treated in hospital and he wouldn’t be returning to the event on Sunday.
They wrote: “As everyone knows Meat Loaf fell today. We wanted to keep you updated as soon as we knew something.
“We just found out that the hospital is keeping him overnight for observation. He will not be able to return on Sunday but he has already confirmed that he will be back in 2020! He's a trooper and we are praying a speedy recovery!”
Although there hasn’t been any official word from Meat Loaf or Texas Frightmare Weekend about the extent of his injuries, celebrity gossip site TMZ reports he suffered a broken collarbone.
In February 2018, Meat Loaf revealed he is unable to sing live due to an ongoing agonising back problem.
He also collapsed on stage at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Canada in June 2016 after back pain shot through him “like a sword.”
Meat Loaf’s last UK show took place at Newbury Racecourse in August 2013.
