Published 20th Feb 2012

Davis was a member of the MC5 from 1964 until their split in 1972. He appeared on all three of their hugely influential albums, including their classic debut - Kick Out The Jams.

Following the band's split he played with Destroy All Monsters for a further seven years.

He would be a part of the MC5 reunion in 2003 and more recently in 2009 he played at the Primal Scream / MC5 collaboration concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London, which yielded the album and film Black To Comm.

Davis was also an established visual artist and some of his paintings have appeared on various MC5 catalogue releases following their split.

He passed away due to liver failure on Friday leaving a wife and four children.
