The Mastodon bassist/vocalist will play a total of four dates with Thin Lizzy in late July and early August, including their special headline slot at Steelhouse Festival where they will perform ‘Black Rose’ in its glorious entirety to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
Alongside Sanders, the Thin Lizzy line-up at the shows consists of the legendary Scott Gorham (guitars), Darren Wharton (keyboards), Ricky Warwick (lead vocals), Damon Johnson (guitar) and Judas Priest’s Scott Travis (drums).
Troy Sanders comments: “It’s no secret that Thin Lizzy has had a big influence on Mastodon’s music. Being asked to join them on stage is a big deal and true honour to me. I am really looking forward to it!"
Scott Gorham enthuses: “We are very happy to welcome Troy to the Lizzy family! We met a few years ago at Download festival and he’s a great guy and killer bass player to boot so very happy he wanted to join us for the shows this summer.”
Ricky Warwick adds: “Mastodon are a fantastic band and knowing how much of a Thin Lizzy fan Troy is, he will be an amazing addition to the fold.”
Also boasting performances from Thunder (UK festival exclusive), Uriah Heep, The Temperance Movement, Massive Wagons, Living Colour, Gun, Those Damn Crows and many more, tickets to Steelhouse Festival are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
