Marital Strife For Dave Lee Roth

Van Halen’s David Lee Roth is finding out the hard way that marriage is hard – especially if you’ve never even met your wife. And she’s suing you.

A woman named Jo Ann Fonzone from Pennsylvania is suing Roth for divorce after claiming to have been married to the singer since 1983.

The woman claims that Roth married her under the name Cary J. Woods and that she didn’t realise that he was the Van Halen frontman until a decade later when she went to one of their concerts. She believed that "Woods” was an entertainment agent with the William Morris Agency (which represents Van Halen).

"He's the master of disguise," Fonzone told Pennsylvania paper The Morning Call back in March.

Fonzone said she can't produce photos of herself with Roth or a marriage certificate; she says she left them in California when she left Roth in 1993. She also claims in court documents that Roth used her Social Security number to gain a $50 million credit line.

Roth is one of 18 defendants that Fonzone has targeted in a dozen lawsuits since 1997. She represents herself in court and has won two of her cases.

Roth’s publicist has vehemently denied that the singer and Ms Fonzone are, or have ever been, married.
