Actor Evan Rachel Wood and four other women have accused Marilyn Manson of abuse. The singer denies the allegations.
In 2019 Wood spoke of the alleged domestic abuse she claims she was subjected to by an unnamed former partner, and today (1st February 2021) she has put a name to those allegations.
Wood wrote on Instagram: “The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson.
“He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission.
“I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives.
“I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”
Four other women have released statements at the same time as Evan Rachel Wood this morning - Ashley Walters, Sarah McNeilly, Gabriella and Ashley Morgan.

Marilyn Manson has since issued a statement regarding the allegations, which reads: “Obviously, my life and my art have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how — and why — others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth."
Evan Rachel Wood’s relationship with Marilyn Manson became public in 2007 and they became engaged in early 2010 before breaking off their relationship several months later.
Manson’s single ‘Heart-Shaped Glasses (When the Heart Guides the Hand)’ from his 2007 album ‘Eat Me, Drink Me’ was written about Wood.
Last year, Marilyn Manson aborted an interview with Metal Hammer after he was asked about the subject of Evan Rachel Wood. After Metal Hammer asked 10 further questions for Manson to respond to, the singer’s representatives issued this lengthy statement in response.
