Manics Recruit Former GNR / Velvet Underground Members For Album
McKagan and Cale appear on new LP
The new album by the Manic Street Preachers will feature guest appearances from former Velvet Underground member John Cale and former Guns N Roses bassist Duff McKagan, it has been revealed.
The band say that Postcards From A Young Man is more anthemic and uplifting than their brilliant, but ultimately difficult 2009 album Journal For Plague Lovers, which was created based upon missing guitarist Richey Edward’s journals.
The new album is released on 20 September and the album’s first single, (It’s Not War) Just The End of Love is released on 13 September.
Here’s the tracklist:
- (It’s Not War) Just The End Of Love
- Postcards From A Young Man
- Some Kind Of Nothingness (featuring Ian McCulloch)
- The Descent (Pages 1 &2)
- Hazleton Avenue
- Auto-Intoxication (with John Cale on piano)
- Golden Platitudes
- I Think I’ve Found It
- A Billion Balconies Facing The Sun (with Duff McKagan)
10. All We Make Is Entertainment - The Future Has Been Here 4 Ever
12. Don’t Be Evil
The band have already announced a huge UK tour in support of the album, which will kick off in late September.
