Maiden, Crooked Vultures Win Grammys

Iron Maiden won the award for Best Metal Performance for the song 'Eldorado' at the Nokia Theatre in LA. Amazingly it was their very first Grammy Award, and due to the fact that they are currently on tour in Europe they couldn't collect it in person. Surreally, Bobby McFerrin accepted the award on their behalf.

Them Crooked Vultures proved once and for all that supergroups CAN work by picking up the award for Best Hard Rock Performance for the song 'New Fang' from their debut album.

Arcade Fire surprised everyone by winning the Album Of The Year award for The Suburbs, beating firm favourites Eminem and Lady Gaga in the process.

Jeff Beck continued his love-affair with the Grammys by winning two awards and being part of a collaboration which won another. He won Best Pop Instrumental Performance for his version of 'Nessun Dorma' and Best Rock Instrumental Performance for 'Hammerhead', while he was part of the Imagine Project's version of Imagine which won Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. By our count he has now won six Grammys as a solo artist.

Remarkably Neil Young won his first ever proper Grammy for music that he's made (he won Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package last year) in the Best Rock Song category for the track 'Angry World' from his Le Noise album.

Muse won the Best Rock Album for The Resistance, beating the likes of Tom Petty, Pearl Jam, Jeff Beck and Neil Young.
