Lou Reed's Eight Legged Compliment
A new genus of spider is named after the former Velvet Underground man
According to Sci-News.com the new breed of spider has been named LOUREEDIA ANNULIPES after the rocker because it is a velvet spider.
Found in Tel Krayot, Israel, this type of velvet spider is apparently one of the world's most cooperative species, and "social colonies may consist of hundreds of closely-related individuals that participate in dramatic mass attacks on prey and care for their young."
They are also apparently very rarely seen by humans and instead live in burrows underground.
Speculation that they also have a penchant for spoken-word heavy metal concept albums is still to be proven.
