Set in Camden Town, the 1.3mile stretch of pavement between Chalk Farm’s The Roundhouse and Mornington Crescent’s KOKO will immortalise international artists, industry names, unsung heroes, innovators, artists of the year and iconic gig venues.

Commencing with a ‘Founding Stone’ on Camden High Street in February, the inaugural Hollywood Walk of Fame-style stones will officially be launched with a series of ceremonies in March. These will the first of a planned 400 plus stones over the next 20 years.

Boldly billed as a ‘cultural attraction and one of the highest accolades in music’, each one-metre square plaque will be crafted in soft granite and feature a bronze inlay.

The recipients of the stones, which will be laid out 10 metres apart, will be cherry-picked by both key international music industry figures and fans.

Founder Lee Bennett enthuses: “After many years of teasing the project along, the timing is now right to move it forward as the team I have assembled are more than capable to deliver what will be a defining moment in music history now and in the future.

“Added to this the fact that we have an accommodating and progressive Council with very supportive Councillors and Officers as well as a proud local community, the timing felt right. There are so many levels and avenues with this project and I look forward to watching it all unfold."

Councillor Jonathan Simpson, Cabinet Member for Promoting Culture and Communities, adds: “Throughout Camden’s history the borough has been the stomping grounds for many well-known members of London’s creative communities.

“The international Walk Of Fame project will celebrate this rich legacy by highlighting the accomplishments of some of the musicians, artists and prominent industry innovators connected with Camden’s vibrant creative heritage”.

Leron Gubler, President of the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, says: “It will be great to work with Camden – it’s a natural fit.”

Adding an extra dimension to the Music Walk of Fame experience, developers Second Screen will be creating a Music Walk Of Fame App.

Users of the augmented reality app will be able to watch each recipient perform on the pavement and read about the people and places that make Camden such a musical hotbed. The app will also let you hear the artists, list local events and vote on the next inductees as well as play games.
