Little Feat Drummer Dies

RIP Richie Hayward, 1946 - 2010

Richie Hayward, a founding member of Little Feat, passed away yesterday due to complications from liver cancer. He was 64 years old.

Hayward formed Little Feat along with Roy Estrada, Lowell George and Bill Payne in 1969, and was a former member of George's previous band, the Factory.

As well as playing with Feat for 40 years. Hayward has been a prolific session musician, recording with (amongst others) Joan Armatrading, Eric Clapton, Ry Cooder, The Doobie Brothers, Bob Dylan, Peter Frampton, Buddy Guy, Arlo Guthrie, Jonny Lang, Nils Lofgren, Taj Mahal, Robert Palmer, Van Dyke Parks, Robert Plant, Bob Seger, Carly Simon, Stephen Stills, Tom Waits, John Cale, Warren Zevon and Warren Haynes.

In 2009 Hayward was diagnosed with liver cancer and was forced to stop touring with his band, and sadly passed away yesterday after losing his fight with the illness.
