Listen to remastered audio of Led Zeppelin performing ‘Immigrant Song’ live
Ahead of the reissue of the ‘How The West Was Won’ on Friday (23rd March), Led Zeppelin are streaming ‘Immigrant Song’.
2003 live album ‘How The West Was Won’ is being re-released as part of the band’s 50th anniversary celebrations this year and boasts newly remastered audio, which was done under the supervision of Jimmy Page.
The first fruits of the remastering sessions can now be heard in the shape of Led Zeppelin’s thundering rendition of ‘Immigrant Song’ in California back in 1972.
‘How The West Was Won’ is available to buy on Friday on triple CD, quadruple vinyl, Blu-Ray Audio and Streaming & Digital Download formats together with a Super Deluxe Box Set containing the following:
- Remastered audio on three CDs and four 180-gram vinyl LPs.
- DVD of album in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and PCM Stereo, plus photo gallery.
- High-definition download card of all stereo audio content at 96kHz/24 bit.
- A book filled with rare and previously unpublished photos of the band at each of the concert locations, plus memorabilia and ephemera.
- High-quality print of the original album cover, the first 30,000 of which will be individually numbered.
A critical and commercial success upon its initial release 15 years ago, ‘How The West Was Won’ was recorded at Led Zeppelin’s much-fabled concerts at the Los Angeles Forum and Long Beach Arena on 25th and 27th June 1972.
Melded together and sequenced to replicate a single concert from beginning to end, Jimmy Page considers ‘How The West Was Won’ to showcase Led Zeppelin at their artistic peak.
To celebrate their 50th anniversary landmark, Led Zeppelin are also releasing unheard versions of ‘Rock and Roll’ and ‘Friends’ for Record Store Day and releasing their first ever illustrated book – Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin – on 2nd October.
Late drummer John Bonham is also due to be immortalized with a sculpture in his home town of Redditch to coincide with what would have been his 70th birthday in May.
Speaking to Planet Rock Magazine, Jimmy Page also said there will be a brand new Led Zeppelin live album released at some point this year and he foresees that there will be 'new' Led Zeppelin product emerging over the next decade.
“I can't give the game away, but there's a recording that’s another multi-track that we'll release,” Jimmy says. “It's so different to all the other things that are out there. It's another view compared to How The West Was Won or The Song Remains The Same.
“I'm looking forward to people hearing that. There's a lot of stuff to come out, a number of releases. I'd like to say that they'll be coming out over the next 10 years. There's more to come for sure.”
