Listen to Led Zeppelin and Greta Van Fleet mashup ‘When The Wanton Falls’

In his latest concoction, the YouTube DJ has mixed together the Robert Plant-esque howl of Josh Kiszka from Greta Van Fleet’s recent single ‘When The Curtain Calls’ with the music of Led Zeppelin’s 1975 ‘Physical Graffiti’ track ‘The Wanton Song’.

Dubbing the track ‘When The Wanton Falls’, DJ Cummerbund said of his mashup “I was tired of people saying Greta Van Fleet sounds like Led Zeppelin, so I created the supergroup "Ledda Van Fleppelin" to prove that they don't sound anything alike.”

The accompanying video intersperses clips from Greta Van Fleet’s ‘When The Curtain Calls’ video with footage Jimmy Page and Robert Plant performing 'The Wanton Song' at London’s Wembley Arena in 1995. 

Also appearing in the video are wrestlers Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts and ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage, and Andrew Stockdale of Australian Led Zep-alikes Wolfmother.

In an interview with Channel Ten in Australia back in April, Robert Plant joked about Greta Van Fleet saying: “There’s a band in Detroit called Greta Van Fleet, they are Led Zeppelin I. Beautiful little singer, I hate him!”

“He borrowed (his voice) from somebody I know very well, but what are you going to do? At least he’s got a bit of style, because he’s said he based his whole style off Aerosmith,” Plant added while rolling his eyes.

Commenting on the endless Led Zeppelin comparisons, Greta Van Fleet guitarist Jake Kiszka told FaceCulture: “I think that we’ve become more conscious of it, because I don’t think before we ever really realised, in a lot of senses, the similarities or the commonalities that we share with (Led Zeppelin).

“It’s being said over and over, and I think it’s one of the greatest compliments that could ever be given to a young band like ourselves. They’re arguably one of the greatest rock bands of all time, so that is humbling and inspiring and honorable, in that sense.

“But I think that we’ve become more conscious of the similarities, because it’s been said, and I think we’ve taken some time to go back and almost identify with it. ‘Oh, it’s interesting, because there is a lot of those commonalities.’ Even if it exactly wasn’t an overwhelming influence of ours, it still was influential and we can certainly see it. But overall, it doesn’t really affect the writing of our music.”

Following their sold-out run of November shows, Greta Van Fleet will return to the UK in March 2019 for headline dates in Newcastle, Glasgow, Leeds, Nottingham and Liverpool.

Tickets go on sale from Planet Rock Tickets at 10am on Friday 19th October – the same day Greta Van Fleet’s eagerly-awaited debut album ‘Anthem of The Peaceful Army’ lands.
