LISTEN: Anthrax unveil cover of Kansas' seminal anthem 'Carry On Wayward Son'

Anthrax are streaming their excellent cover of the 1976 Kansas classic ‘Carry On Wayward Son’.

Musically more akin to the sound of the original track than Anthrax’s thrash metal roots, the highly polished cover is a perfect showcase for Joey Belladonna’s impressive pipes.

As well as covering the track, Anthrax have also aped the ‘Leftoverture’ artwork by replacing the old man’s face with their trademark grinning Not Man mascot, switching the piano for a drum kit and guitar for a Gibson Flying V, and writing their band name in the style of the Kansas logo.

Anthrax’s cover of ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ is one of 20 tracks that features on the limited edition 7” vinyl box set of ‘For All Kings’.

Released last Friday (24th March) and costing a wallet-busting £100, the collection also features a cover of The White Stripes’ ‘Black Math’, a smorgasbord of demo versions and a previously unheard track.
