Leslie West Plays First Gig Since Losing Leg

An emotional performance from the former Mountain man

West played at New York’s BB King Blues Club on Tuesday night. It was the first time that he had played in public since he was forced to have his lower right leg amputated as a result of diabetes complications.

West was forced to cancel a tour with Uli Jon Roth and Michael Schenker last year after they could not find a tour bus that could accommodate his disability.

Ultimate Classic Rock reports that he was able to make the show in New York after the Vehicle Production Group donated an MV-1 automobile - reportedly the "the only factory-built mode of transportation that meets or exceeds the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) direct from the factory.”

He opened the New York show with a version of 'People Get Ready', which he just about managed to get through after being overcome with emotion, via a standing ovation from the audience.
