Nirvana's Live At Reading film will be shown at this year's Reading and Leeds Festivals this year.

The legendary grunge band's 1992 headline set will be broadcast on the Friday night at Leeds (26 August) and on the closing night of the Reading Festival (28 August).

Confirming the screening plans to NME, Arts Booker at organiser Festival Republic, Tania Harrison, explained that the original plan was to screen the gig in 3D. Although this idea has now been shelved she suggested it could be looked at again for the 20th anniversary of the set at next year's festival.

"It was such a legendary performance that so many people haven't seen - so we had to do it. It was one of those seminal moments that changed everything - which is what Reading's all about," she commented.

The film was released on DVD in 2009.
