Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd stars make music rich list
The Sunday Times has unveiled its countdown of the wealthiest stars in music.
Members of The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath have all made it onto The Sunday Times Music Rich List.
Beatles icon Sir Paul McCartney and his heiress wife Nancy Shevell top the broadsheet newspaper’s annual countdown of the UK and Ireland’s biggest earners with a staggering wealth of £760million.
U2 are in the third spot with £500million in the bank, with Sir Mick Jagger (£235million), Keith Richards (£220m) and Sting (£185m) all inside the top 10.
Other rock greats with wallets large enough to earn a top 30 spot include Ozzy Osbourne (£135million), Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page (£105m) and Robert Plant (£103m) plus Queen’s Brian May (£120m), Roger Taylor (£115m) and John Deacon (£100m).
Pink Floyd are represented by Roger Waters (£160m) and David Gilmour (£100m), while Eric Clapton (£160m) and David Bowie’s family (£90million) also make the list.
The Sunday Times estimates the fortunes using publicly available sources such as land, property, other assets and shares. They do not have access bank accounts.
