Watch: Kris Barras Band share glorious cover of Deep Purple's 'Highway Star'
They recorded it during lockdown

Kris Barras Band have covered Deep Purple’s 1972 seminal classic ‘Highway Star’ while in lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic.
The storming version of the Deep Purple's towering anthem sees eponymous band leader Kris Barras take on vocal, guitar and bass duties, while multi-instrumentalist and studio wizard, Josiah J Manning, is charged with playing drums and also Jon Lord’s iconic organ solo - which he does with aplomb.
The audio was mixed and produced by Josiah at Momentum Studios in Plymouth with Kris editing the video from his box room.
Kris Barras says: “We thought we’d make the most of isolation by messing around with a few covers. Deep Purple were one of my favourite bands growing up and this is a track that I haven’t actually played or sang before the lockdown. So I thought we could have some fun with it!”

Back in early in 2019, Kris Barras Band shared a rip-roaring cover of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Rock and Roll’ which you can watch right here.
Kris Barras is one of the guest vocalists at Planet Rock’s rescheduled Zeppelin Symphonic concert at London Palladium on Sunday 4th October.
Europe’s Joey Tempest, Nathan James (Inglorious), Mollie Marriott and Harry James (Thunder) will also perform live on the night alongside a full band and symphony orchestra.
Kris Barras Band released their latest studio album ‘Light It Up’ last September.
Deep Purple, meanwhile, recently delayed the release of their 21st studio album ‘Whoosh!’ two months because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The follow-up to 2017’s ‘Infinite’ was due to be released on Friday 12th June 2020 via earMUSIC, however singer Ian Gillan has confirmed it will come out on an as-yet-unspecified date in August.
