KISS pay tribute to Eric Carr who died 25 years ago today
In a moving post on their official website, KISS have paid tribute to Eric Carr today (24th November) on the 25th anniversary of his death.
Born Paul Charles Caravello in 1950, Eric took over on drums from Peter Criss in 1980 when he chose the stage name ‘Eric Carr’ his assumed unique Fox persona.
Eric remained a member of the legendary group until he lost his battle with heart cancer on 24th November 1991 – coincidentally the same day as Freddie Mercury’s death.
Remembering Eric today, KISS wrote: “Twenty five years ago today, our friend Eric Carr passed away after losing his battle with cancer. Over the eleven years Eric spent with KISS, he played over 800 concerts to millions of fans around the world, and he brought joy to and touched the lives of so many people. We miss you, Eric.”
Following Eric’s tragic death at the age of 41, Eric Singer became the new drummer of KISS and adopted Peter Criss’ Catman persona.
KISS’s 1992 album ‘Revenge’ was dedicated to Eric and the last track, the instrumental ‘Carr Jam 1981’, was a demo he recorded a year after the joined the group.
