KISS officially announce farewell End of the Road World Tour

The face-painted rockers opened the season finale of America’s Got Talent last night (19th September) and following a performance of their 1976 anthem ‘Detroit Rock City’ they announced their plans to retire.

Confirming they will be hanging up their nine-inch platform boots for good, KISS frontman Paul Stanley said: "This is gonna be our last tour. It will be the most explosive, biggest show we've ever done. People who love us, come see us. If you've never seen us, this is the time. This will be the show."

KISS added in a statement: "All that we have built and all that we have conquered over the past four decades could never have happened without the millions of people worldwide who've filled clubs, arenas and stadiums over those years.

“This will be the ultimate celebration for those who've seen us and a last chance for those who haven't. KISS Army, we're saying goodbye on our final tour with our biggest show yet and we'll go out the same way we came in... Unapologetic and Unstoppable.”

The tour will spell the end for the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers who have shifted over 100million albums in their 45-year career to date.

KISS say they will announce dates for the tour in the coming weeks and months and the long goodbye will commence in 2019.

However, it may be some time before KISS finally retire. Speaking to Sweden’s Expressen newspaper in June, bassist Gene Simmons said it “will be a three year long tour starting in January 2019.”

The Demon promised it will be KISS’s “most spectacular tour ever” and will go to “all continents”, however he added “exactly where I can’t tell you now.”

Back in February, the owners of KISS’s property rights, KISS Catalog Ltd., filed an application to 'Word Mark' the ominous phrase ‘The End of the Road’.

Paul Stanley, however, later brushed off rumours that it spells the end for the band explaining that rather than calling it quits they were simply planning ahead.

"It's not the first trademark that's been filed," Paul told CNBC’s Squawk Box. "I thought it was a terrific name, and I was surprised nobody had used it before. I wanted to make sure that when we used it, and there will be a time that we do, I imagine — I wanted to be sure that we own it and it's ours."

KISS last played the UK in May 2017 when they took in arenas in Glasgow, Birmingham and London.
