Keith Richards: 'The Rolling Stones will continue until we die'
Keith Richards has vowed that The Rolling Stones will never quit - in fact, they’ll continue until they shuffle off this mortal coil.
More than half a century into their legendary career, Keith says The Rolling Stones are still striving to “make their best record and put on our best show.”
Asked about The Stones’ remarkable longevity, Keith told the Radio Times: “(Other rock acts are) not really bands if they don’t last; they’re groups. We’re a band and a real band sticks until it dies.
“These bands, they become big, but they’re generational, just for their one decade. They literally go when their testosterone goes.”
He continued: “We work hard and no-one takes it for granted. We’re still looking to make our best record and put on our best show.
“The Stones have managed to be part of life, without becoming passé. Also, what else are you going to do? You never grow up, you just learn a little more. I ain’t getting old, I’m evolving.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Keith critiqued The Beatles as a live act, saying: “Musically, The Beatles had a lovely sound and great songs. But the live thing? They were never quite there.”
The Rolling Stones’ last studio album ‘A Bigger Bang’ was released almost 11 years ago in September 2005.
