Keith Richards Picks Up Literary Award
He collects a Mailer Prize from Bill Clinton in Manhattan
Chicago Sun Times reports that Keith won the Mailer Prize for Distinguished Autobiography at the prestigious New York awards on Tuesday.
As he presented the award Bill Clinton revealed that his late mother-in-law, Dorothy Rodham, was a big Stones fan.
"Do you have any idea what it's like to have a 92-year-old groupie living in your home, a woman who lived and breathed for The Rolling Stones?" Clinton said, as reported by the Associated Press.
"You've heard from some incredible people about some serious stuff," Richards said as he collected the award, acknowledging some of the literary giants in the room, before bringing the subject to his own demons, his longtime heroin addiction. "The only serious stuff I'm interested in I've given up."
