Judas Priest singer Rob Halford’s fervently awaited autobiography ‘Confess’ will be released on Tuesday 29th September 2020 via Hardline books.
Originally due to come out on the 1st October, the memoir, which Rob describes as “frank and shocking”, has been brought forward a couple of days and now boasts the above resplendent front cover.
The hardback edition of ‘Confess’ (costing around £17.60) features 320 pages and it was co-written by Ian Gittins, who previously joined forces with Nikki Sixx for his notorious 2007 book The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star.
‘Confess’ focuses on Rob’s rock-n-roll lifestyle from Judas Priest's embryonic days to the band’s 50th anniversary.
The synopsis for Rob Halford’s ‘Confess’ reads:
Most priests take confessions. This one is giving his.
Rob Halford, front man of global iconic metal band Judas Priest, is a true 'Metal God'. Raised in Britain's hard-working heavy industrial heartland he and his music were forged in the Black Country. CONFESS, his full autobiography, is an unforgettable rock 'n' roll story - a journey from a Walsall council estate to musical fame via alcoholism, addiction, police cells, ill-starred sexual trysts and bleak personal tragedy, through to rehab, coming out, redemption... and finding love.
Now, he is telling his gospel truth.
Told with Halford's trademark self-deprecating, deadpan Black Country humour, CONFESS is the story of an extraordinary five decades in the music industry. It is also the tale of unlikely encounters with everybody from Superman to Andy Warhol, Madonna, Jack Nicholson and the Queen. More than anything else, it's a celebration of the fire and power of heavy metal.
Rob Halford has decided to Confess. Because it's good for the soul.
Commenting on the book, Rob Halford says: “Confess is a unique once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me to expose every facet of myself.
“Digging deep with nothing to hide and nothing to fear was in many ways exciting, fun, disturbing, terrifying and cathartic. I’ve held nothing back. It’s time for me to Confess.”
Sarah Emsley, publishing director of Headline, said: “I have a real passion for warts-and-all, career-spanning autobiographies from icons of the music world and Rob Halford’s story is truly incredible.
“Covering seven action-packed decades, the early material from Confess is stunning. We cannot wait to publish Rob’s book around the globe next year.”
Judas Priest headline the closing night at Bloodstock Open Air on Sunday 15th August 2021. This year’s event was axed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Judas Priest are also lined up to support Ozzy Osbourne on his No More Tours 2 UK arena tour in October and November. There has been update on the status of these shows.
