Judas Priest give fans ‘exciting’ update on new album
Judas Priest have reconvened in the studio to continue work on their eighteenth studio album.
The heavy metal titans started work on the follow-up to 2014’s acclaimed ‘Redeemer of Souls’ last spring and marked the occasion by sharing photos from the studio on social media.
Now, in a fresh Twitter update, the Birmingham metallers have confirmed that they’re once again working hard on the record and revealed they’ve united with their longtime producer Tom Allom together with Andy Sneap (Hell, Saxon, Megadeth) and Mike Exeter (Heaven & Hell, Ghost, Black Sabbath).
They wrote: “Back in the studio working on the new album - great team on board with long time JP producer Tom Allom, Andy Sneap + Mike Exeter - exciting!”

English producer Tom Allom has worked on six Judas Priest studio albums (British Steel, Point of Entry, Screaming For Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith, Turbo and Ram It Down) together with three live albums (Unleashed in the East, Priest… Live! and A Touch of Evil: Live).
Speaking to Full Metal Jackie last year, Priest singer Rob Halford said writing new material is one of the best parts of being in a band: “I can’t wait to get into the writing zone again – that’s one of the most thrilling moments for me in Priest.
“You go into a room with some amps, ‘Hey, guys, have a cup of tea,’ turn the amps on, start riffing, and boom – you could have another amazing Priest song by the end of the day.”
Rob also confirmed that they’re eyeing up a 2017 release date for the new material.
