Former Journey frontman Steve Perry will release his first Christmas album, ‘The Season’, on Friday 5th November 2021 via Fantasy Records.
The album features eight covers of traditional holiday songs including ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’, ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’, ‘Auld Lang Syne’, ‘What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?’ and ‘The Christmas Song.’
To get us into the festive spirit, Steve Perry has today premiered the lead single from the record, a version of ‘I’ll Be Home For Christmas’, which was originally recorded by Bing Crosby in 1943.
Listen to Steve Perry’s ‘I’ll Be Home For Christmas’ cover:
Steve Perry comments: “I hope when people hear this record, they’re teleported in the same way I was when I recorded all these songs—I hope it brings them back to those golden moments with their loved ones and gives them that feeling of joy and connection and comfort that we all need so much.”
The rock icon adds that making the album reminded him of being in his grandmother’s house as a child: "When I was recording vocals for "I'll be Home For Christmas", as I was singing "Please have Snow and Mistletoe and Presents under the tree”, I was emotionally thrown into standing in my grandmother's house staring through the door that I always hung Mistletoe and then I saw her beautiful Christmas tree in front of her living room window.
“I had to stop singing because it felt like I was really there… I was a bit stunned… Back Home for Christmas is where everyone wants to be!”
Steve Perry released his first studio album in 24 years, ‘Traces’, in October 2018 and it debuted inside the Top 10 in his native US.
